To be fair, he was only on Cincinnati for a few weeks.
I'm confused... if I'm missing a joke, I apologize.

Jackson was with the Bengals for years. He spent 3 years there as a WR coach, left to coach for several other teams and then returned to spend one year as a secondary coach, one year as an RB coach and 2 seasons as offensive coordinator.

He was? Oh. I thought he was only on the team this year. I should have looked it up 😞

Ha! No problem. I thought you knew. That's why I was thinking a joke was just sailing right over my head.

I only remember him on the Raiders and Browns. Idk. I suppose him interviewing is a kids of death for Stefanski.

That figures...

I assume the plan is to make the Vikings as much like those ultra-successful Bengals teams as possible.
Seems like the AFC team that we most closely resemble. Perennially decent, but never a real contender.
That and the arrest department. Supposedly we are 2nd most and the Bengals are 3rd most in the last 20 years.

If the Vikes don't want Stef as the OC, I hope they interview Adam Gase. I know Gase hasn't done much in Miami, but he led a statue-esque Peyton Manning to a record-breaking season with the Broncos and a superbowl win the year after - could be a good fit with Kirk and the rest of the offense.
I felt like Peyton Manning ran that offense himself and did his own thing.

I think I would take a chance on Hue as OC besides his stint with the Browns he was under some good head coaches and the teams he was on and what he had to do whether it was offensive coordinator or WR coach etc was above average.

I think Hue is better than Stefanski for what it's worth. Most important hire is oline coach. Then it would help to actually get some good lineman in the draft instead of overpaying for other teams scrubs in free agency.

I think the big thing is finding a guy who can do what the Vikings need. They need a guy who can be self sufficient and adjust at a high level. They also need somebody who is adaptable and can run different things based on personnel, opponents, and injuries.

To me the former HC is the guy to hire, somebody with experience in the NFL. I think Gase would be a great hire, assuming he can fit into the culture. Kubiak is an interesting suggestion also. As I've said before, my dream would be Arians, but I think he is done.

Why would you want to bring in someone with as much baggage as Hue? He's known to throw guys under the bus and has a poor eye for evaluating talent (it's well known he didn't want Mayfield). He may fall in the "average OC" category if not for this personally and poor scouting ability but those are huge red flags. Look at how quickly the Browns turned it around once they fired him. This will be a huge (Hue?) mistake.

Do Zimmer and Arians have any connection?

I agree. He’s been an AWFUL head coach. I guess you can say he’s experienced from coaching multiple teams with multiple coaches but has he ever excelled at any position he’s been at? I’m honestly asking because I’m not sure. I guess he’s impressed someone since he’s been a head coach twice but I’d rather go a different direction.

LOL! Yeah I guess Arians is kind of the offense (and offensive) version of Zimmer.
